We are thrilled to welcome you to the Third International Symposium on Woody Ornamentals of the Temperate Zone, which will be held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The meeting pulls together researchers and producers of woody ornamentals from around the world to present cutting edge information regarding all aspects of the development and production of woody landscape plants.
Topics to be covered in the symposia include Plant Breeding and Genetics; Genetic Resources and Conservation; Plant Physiology; Propagation; Plant Production and Nursery Management; Pests and Diseases and IPM; Water Use; Soil, Nutrients and Substrates; Plants in the Landscape; Urban Horticulture; and Impacts of Climate Change.
Minneapolis provides an outstanding venue for this international meeting. In addition to the technical sessions, we are planning visits to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and one of the nations largest producers of landscape plants, Bailey Nurseries, Inc.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is easily accessible from many major cities around the world. The cities also contain numerous eating, drinking, arts, performance, and sports venues that are easily accessible via the Metro Transit system. Forget about what you have heard concerning Minnesota weather! Our weather in August is glorious, with average high temperatures of 81° F (27° C) and lows of 62° F (17° C). On average we only see 10 rainy days in August.
